High Cholesterol & Don't Want To Go On A Statin
One of the most common questions I face in my clinical practice.
One of the most common referrals I get is:
“Dear Paddy, this person has high cholesterol and does not want to go on a statin. Please advise.”
There is a very stepwise solution to this problem.
Here it is.
Do They Really Have High Cholesterol?
Most people describe their cholesterol by the Total Cholesterol number, e.g., 5.5 mmol/L or 212 mg/dL.
This is a meaningless number that neither patients nor doctors should pay attention to in 2025.
