Thank you for the article. I have a question about cortisol levels. One can get a small sponge to chew at midnight to then send it to the lab for cortisol levels. If they are high is there anything medical team can do to help a patient? What supplements, if any, are best in assisting body in lowering chronically elevated cortisol release in body? Thanks!

I don’t find huge value in these tests. Simply reflecting subjectively I find to be a much better approach and rather than supplements a more root cause approach is better. It’s not that I don’t think they have use but I think they are often not the best approach.

Thanks for the feed back on effects of fear or anxiety. What about conscious verse unconscious stress?

Fear or anxiety? Seeing a rattlesnake causes fear. Worrying about a rattlesnake causes anxiety. Do they both impact cardiac health equally. Does it depend on release of cortisol? If the release of cortisol is bad why did evolution in clued cortisol release?

Both are real in experience so in my view matter equally. The key is learning to separate them and understand what they have to teach us. https://paddybarrett.substack.com/p/anxiety-as-the-greatest-teacher?utm_source=publication-search
