Super! Thanks for the link to Casual AI. What a great calculator. Interesting that, last year, I asked my cardiology nurse practitioner what she thought about Lp(a) as a marker for CVD, and she said she didn't even know what that was. Do you think that it's even possible in this day and age that she didn't know?

Thank you for the information and link to the calculator! I have followed your advice and increased my Z2 exercise minutes and increased my Rosuvastatin to 1 daily. My lipid profile looked great... but I also got a Lp(a) test...275. Depressing, but when I put it in the calculator, risk only increased from 2,5% to 5.4%. Can definitely deal with that .

Appreciate all the information you provide!

Dear Paddy,

This Christmas was different for me. My mom was in hospital, getting a triple bi-pass. Celebrating Christmas without her was difficult.

My mom is 63, but the doctors tell her she got the cardiovascular system of a way older woman. They did tons of test, and one of them was Lp(a). It turns out her values are super high. She quit smoking the day she got into hospital. Maybe she would have quit earlier, if she knew about the dangers.

My brother, my sister and I all went to our GPs to get ourselves tested. Turns out my sister is fine, but my brother and I have higher levels - even though mine are ‘just’ 50 mg/dl.

This was the time I discovered your writings. Both my brother and I now focus on reducing all other risk factors. I am in the gym 5 times a week, my brother just ran a half-marathon and lost 10kg. Both of us were never living an extraordinary unhealthy life style, but with this knowledge it is clear, that a good life style is of bigger importance to us than to others.

Thank you for your articles. They help.
