Interesting, I didn't know these meds worked on the satiety end of the process. That graph sure shoots up quick after treatment is ended. Also interesting to see that people lost a little bit of weight on the placebo.
My sister in law recently started on this medication. We are hoping it will save her life. Bariatric surgery didn't work for her. She is around 180 kg with all sorts of issues due to her weight. This might be her last hope.
Actually, if one addresses the cause of fat accumulation, it is possible to normalize ones fat stores without discomfort or added expense. What causes fat accumulation? Excessive arachidonic acid intake. So reversing obesity requires a reduction in arachidonic acid intake. Try these web searches to learn more:
The importance of a balanced ω-6 to ω-3 ratio
Alternative Health Group arachidonic acid
Metabolic syndrome arachidonic acid
adiposity arachidonic acid
Kevin Harvatine omega-3 poultry
omega-3 fish oil adiposity
Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, no scientist anywhere in the World has done a weight loss trial that included a reduction in arachidonic acid intake in the experimental arm. It has been done inadvertently many times - think plant-based diet or Mediterranean diet.
Having lived in the US, UK and Canada, the cost of drugs in the US is astonishing. Even generics - my generic statin was being billed through insurance at ~$500/90 days. Bypassing insurance and simply buying it outright through Amazon Pharmacy cost me $35. This is not a system, yet it is still very broken
Where are the independent, non-pharmatized, long term studies? There has to be reasons and answers for weight gain or loss that does not involve drugs.

For the those studies we will have to wait. They may never be done. As I said they are not a panacea but a tool. A tool that we must use wisely.
