It’s very encouraging that exercise will improve risks and recurrence of AF since the evidence is that sustained weight loss is only achieved by a small minority.
Note that even for those who do all they can to reduce risk (eg, have no excess weight or metabolic syndrome, exercise regularly and appropriately, and control HBP), Afib can still arise in some.
I'll have to show this to my dad who has AF. The advice to lose weight doesn't apply to him as he's trying to put it back on after previously undiagnosed atrial stenosis was fixed with a valve insertion two weeks ago. 🤷♀️

Of course. Risk is about probabilities. No guarantees. All about odds.

There are always exceptions. A Fib post-cardiac surgery is very common. I hope he does well.
